Privacy policy
What this website collects, why, and how to control it. In plain English.
Who we are
Smell Descent is run by Iffy Onwuachu, trading as Smell Descent, in the United Kingdom. We decide how information collected through this website is used, which makes us the "controller" under UK data protection law. You can reach us at contact@smelldescent.com.
We keep what we collect to a minimum, we never sell your information, and we don't show adverts. This policy covers the smelldescent.co.uk website. The Smell Descent app has its own privacy policy.
No cookies or tracking
This website doesn't set cookies, doesn't use analytics or advertising trackers, and serves its fonts and images itself, so your browser doesn't contact other companies when you read it.
Enquiries and messages
If you send us an enquiry or message through a form on this site, or by email, we collect what you give us. Depending on the form, that can include:
- your name, email address and phone number
- your role, and the name, type and area of your venue or brand
- the fragrance or placement you're interested in, and your message
We use this only to reply to you and, if you'd like, to arrange a walkthrough of the unit or discuss a placement. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and, where you're asking about working with us, taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement.
Messages are delivered to our email inbox, which is hosted by Google Workspace, and pass through the form service we use to receive them. We keep enquiries for up to two years after our last contact with you. If we go on to work together, we keep what's needed for our agreement and business records for as long as the law requires.
Hosting
Like every website, our hosting provider records technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe, and these logs are kept for as long as the provider keeps them.
Where your information is stored
Our providers store data in the UK, the EU and the United States. Where data leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, to have it sent to you or another service in a common format, to limit how we use it, or to object to how we use it. Email contact@smelldescent.com and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date below.
